Are you going to shoot?
Most productions will use several locations depending on their budget and what the project calls for. Each location is an additional expense and you need to plan accordingly. How much is it to rent or use the location? How much time will you spend setting up, getting everyone to set? Making sure you feed your cast and crew, and getting the footage you need with quality performances.
Can I use
A friend or family house?
Of course. As long as you have permission, you can shoot inside and outside of a residence. As long as you stay off the sidewalk or street, you won’t require a permit. But it’s always desired to get a signed location agreement.
The location prior to the shoot
Known as location scouting, you want to go to the physical location if possible to plan for any unforeseen difficulties you may be forced to overcome, such as where to shoot from, cast and crew parking, Also knowing where the sun will be at certain times of the day if you plan on shooting in a specific direction, you’ll need to control your light differently.
IN A STUDIO
When you want to have a professional space, using a properly-lit cyc-wall studio always adds that unique, pro touch in a controlled environment.
